Dan McCaffery, President of National Rx Security and ScriptShield, offers some perspective of why he has enjoyed being in the prescription pad business for the past 19 years.
“What I appreciate most about being involved in this business is that through the sale, manufacture, and distribution of tamper resistant prescription pads, we at National Rx Security are able to help the community at large in several ways. By supplying physicians across the country with tamper resistant prescription pads, National Rx Security has been able to effectively contribute to protecting doctor’s professional welfare by reducing the probablity that the doctor’s prescription pads will be tampered with. With our efforts to curtail drug abuse by keeping our prescriptions up to the highest anti-counterfeit standards, we are also curbing related crime. Because of the loyalty of repeat customers as well as business from new customers, National Rx Security has also enjoyed giving back to society through donating a portion of each sale to worthwhile causes such as the American Red Cross, Doctors of the World and the Africa Yoga Project.
Prior to launching our product in 1992, I presented our product to Drug Enforcement Administration headquarters in Washington, D.C. Although the DEA is not permitted to endorse any product, they were impressed with our ablity to offer practioners across the nation, a valuable product to help combat the $25 Billion per year illicit pharmaceutical drug business. They also appreciated the fact that we were the first to educate doctors about the severity of the illegal pharmaceutical drug business and to promote the use of tamper resistant prescrption blanks. Since then, many of the 50 states as well as the Federal government have mandated the use of products like ours, and I am pleased to have been part of the initial introduction of this type of product to the marketplace.”
