The mission of Africa Yoga Project is to use the transformative power of yoga to empower communities and change lives. By inspiring the global yoga community into active service, AYP delivers effective and innovative programs that foster peace, improve physical, emotional and mental well-being, facilitate self-sufficiency and create opportunities to learn and contribute across the communities of East Africa. As a follow up to a recent financial contribution, two employees of National Rx Security will travel to Kenya to participate in the programs of Africa Yoga Project in one week.
Through the work and employment of AYP, 42 trained Kenyan yoga teachers hold over 200 classes a week in community centers, schools and prisons in and around Nairobi. The teachers, most of which live or have lived on the streets, promote the physical, emotional and mental well-being that they have found through the practice of yoga. The communities they reach are experiencing similar benefits in the complimentary, weekly classes.
